The
SureThing team of support staff and designers prepared this list
of quick tips that will help you get the most out of your label
designs and SureThing software.
1. When in doubt, try Arial
Some fonts are bigger than others. If your text is just a little
too large for the text frame, try another font first. If you need
to use a font at a very small size, Arial is your best bet. It is
one of the most readable typefaces ever developed, and at sizes
as small as 6pt, it can't be beat.
2. Use CD-Text for compilation CDs
For compilation CDs you create, be sure to write "CD-Text"
on the CD. This way SureThing and other CD-Text enabled programs
will be able to import the information and save you the time of
entering it manually.
3. Create your own templates
Remember that you can use the Template Creation Wizard or Page Setup
features to create your own template. You need not limit your printing
to CD labels only. See the Halloween
design section for some ideas.
4.
Order labels directly from SureThing software
You can order labels from within the program. Go to File>Print
and click the shopping cart under "Order Labels"...
5. Google image search
Need a particular image for your label? Use Google's
Image Search. Look for images above 250x250 for best results.
The larger, the better... many web images are too small for any
practical use on a CD label.
6. Print reverse
Want to print on the back side of your Front insert? If the insert
is centered on the page, just flip it over and feed it back through.
For SureThing
inserts, use the "SureThing Front Insert (Reverse)"
template.
7. DVD booklets and inserts make great greeting cards
The SureThing
Booklet and DVD
Inserts are great for making greeting cards and postcards.
8.
Use "Print to Stock" feature
Got as far as the print dialog and find you have selected the wrong
stock? No need to worry, just use the "Print to Stock"
button. It's right next to the "Order Labels" button:

9. CDs are cheaper than store-bought greeting cards
It will cost you about $1.06 in postage to send a CD w/jewel case
using our CD
mailing envelopes. (This is First Class mail within the United
States. Alaska and Hawaii will be more.) Considering paper greeting
cards are often over $2.50, sending a CD gift can be cheaper and
more warmly received than paper.
10. High quality output
When using an Epson printer and high quality non-Epson brand stock,
(such as SureThing
Super Vibrant Matte), you should use the 1440 dpi setting:
From SureThing go to File>Print
Click the "Options" button
Select the "Custom" radio button in the 'Mode' section
Click the "Advanced" button
Select "Photo 1440dpi" from the 'Quality' pulldown menu.
Click "Save Settings" and name the settings, "SureThing"
(or whatever you like)
